Players Present Panto Puss
By Geoff Hodgkinson, Co-Editor

February 8, 2012: An invitation to attend a first dress rehearsal of Hatherleigh Players' forthcoming Panto was too much to resist. "Can you take some pictures please?" they asked. "Will they be in costume?" we asked! "I hope so" they said confidently. So, off we went on Sunday evening to the Community Centre to find ... well, a typical first dress we suppose. A piano and ukelele orchestra were tuning up; the lighting board was being tested; costumes hung on racks or were being tried on; faces were being made up and dance practice was taking place in the reception area; heroes and villains practiced their deathly duels in the corner. In other words ... it was the normal chaos. We managed to pin down the key people and take their pictures AND get a disk of images off to the Players for their FoH display. A video or two also got filmed! And the acting? Well, there were some good bits and some OK bits and some awful bits but, hey, there is still a week to go. Puss in Boots is on next week from Thursday through Saturday. Don't miss it, especially the fish dance!
