Market Action Group formed
By Geoff Hodgkinson, Co-Editor

August 27, 2011: It was full house in Vine Church Wednesday evening when more than 90 members of the Save Hatherleigh Market campaign met to establish a formal action group. Pump Editor and Hatherleigh.net co-Editor Neil Price took the chair pro tem, with Louise, Cindy and Madeline in support. The first hour was given over to personal presentations from individuals in the audience and it quickly became apparent that there is lots of support for the SHM campaign to stop housing replacing the current market. All the usual fight-back tactics were discussed. Then Neil called for volunteers to form the official Committee, which resulted in him being nominated as the permanent Chairman! A full Committee was then formed and this subsequently met after the main meeting dispersed. Here's Neil addressing the meeting in his new role as Chairman. Bookmark our Market Story page here. (Editor's Note: Both Neil and Geoff confirm that Hatherleigh.net will report fairly and honestly on all sides of this story - and any other aspect of the market sale and proposed housing - in a completely neutral way. If you have something to say, we will cover it, whether we agree with you or not. If we occasionally present views of our own, these will be clearly identified as such.)
