Hatherleigh Pre-school Consistently GOOD!
By Neil Price, Co-Editor

March 27, 2011: Paul Hansford writes “Hatherleigh Pre-school underwent its anticipated Ofsted inspection in February. We're pleased to say that we've been rated ‘good' (which is better than it may sound!). We were also rated ‘good' in our last inspection (2007), so now it's official: Hatherleigh Pre-school is consistently good. The inspector made the experience a positive one. She knew how to put the staff at ease, and therefore got a fair picture of what the Pre-school is like. She engaged well with the children, who enjoyed meeting her. She was especially impressed with the interaction between staff and children, so there's every reason to be proud of our excellent staff. The report can be downloaded from ‘Early Years & Childcare' in the ‘Inspection Reports' area of Ofsted's website (www.ofsted.gov.uk) under the unique reference number (URN) EY338693.
As a parent and Chair of the committee, I'm immensely grateful to all the staff for their selfless hard work. They always go the extra mile (or two) to make Hatherleigh Pre-school a safe, friendly place where learning is fun and every child feels valued. I'm also immensely grateful to those parents who've given their time as volunteers and committee members. I'd particularly like to thank our longstanding Senior Play Leaders, Sarah Miles and Jenny May; our administrator, Maggie Dennis; and the two prior committee Chairs, Kerry Brooks and Anita Pearce.
Their unsung heroics over the last four years have paid rich dividends, not just in getting a good Ofsted report, but also in creating a supportive and exciting learning environment for all our children.”
