Our Champs! Silverband Success!!
By Neil Price, Co-Editor

March 16, 2011: Yes that is correct, Hatherleigh Silver Band are the South West Band's new 4 th section champions 2011. Qualifying for the 2 nd successive year running, the National Brass Band Finals this year is to be held at Cheltenham Race Course.
Of the 22 participant Bands in this section, the adjudicator Derek Broadbent said in his summing up of the day's playing that the Band's overall sound, control and interpretation of John Golland‘s 'Prelude Song and Dance', made Hatherleigh clear winners. It is very rewarding and great for the Band's progression, at being able to keep the name of Hatherleigh firmly on the map. Our Musical Directors Robin Wonnacott and David Hayward, were delighted to see all their hard work come to fruition.
You can follow the Band's fortunes by logging on to the Band's website which is www.hatherleighsilverband.co.uk compiled by Mark Quick. Better still if you would like to come and play with the Band instruments are always available, but if you would like to help behind the scenes please contact any Band member who will put you in touch with a committee member for a chat.
After all that excitement we come down to earth with a bump and start practising with a new set of music which will make up our summer programme. If you would like the Band to play at any of your functions, please contact Marion Quick, on 01837 82533. We thank you for your continued support and hope to see you throughout the summer.
