WORLD EXCLUSIVE: Restored to Glory!
By Geoff Hodgkinson, Co-Editor

November 2, 2010: Yippee! We've been contacted by someone from the George Hotel and here at last is a real update. Joshua Hurter is the new Assistant Manager and he is from a company called Urban and Country Leisure. They have 13 pubs around the country (they recently opened a brand new one called The Lazy Cow in Warwick. Check it out, says Joshua, to see the kind of service and quality we are all about.) "We are determined to give the George the kind of TLC it deserves. We know we have a historic site and that this hotel is important to the town, so we plan to do things properly," he said. Joshua kindly invited us to their VIP opening day on Nov 19th and we'll do a picture story then. This will be an invitation-only event so don't all rush to get in; the public opening day will be November 20th when, says Joshua, we'll be taking money over the bar for the first time. And Carnival? We'd love to open for Carnival, he says, but regrettably we can't as we want to keep things pristine for the 19th. There's also a lot of work needed to get things right, to which end he introduced us to their web site - www.restoredtoglory.co.uk, now online. Here you can register to be considered for an invitation to special events such as the Exclusive Grand Opening (not sure if this is the VIP Day though), and offer yourself to 'critique' meals when you sample a main course and provide feedback to help ensure the right meals are produced at the right quality. There's no on-line room reservations yet, but if you want to book rooms you can contact Joshua personally for the moment at joshua.hurter@gmail.com. Back from the ashes indeed, and with a bang!
