Global Evening
By Don Cudmore

April 18, 2010: Sally Horden writes "On entering the marquee, a glass of wine and various nibbles greeted guests arriving for a gourmet evening of food from around the world. They were then ushered into the Village Hall which was decked with various flags representing the countries whose food they were about to taste. A packed hall was treated to a most amusing monologue by Maggie Brady. She then introduced the five chefs using a variety of titles which surprised the chefs themselves! Guests then partook of dishes from Morocco, Hungary, Spain, India, Greece and Russia. The tickets said eat as much as you like, and everybody did coming back for second, third and even fourth helpings. The desserts were as varied as the main courses and Olga Brereton cooked Russian Oladyees on the spot, served hot with local honey and sour cream. A light-hearted quiz followed the meal. The magnificent sum of 660 was raised by the event. The Exbourne & Jacobstowe Community Association would like to thank all those who attended and supported the evening, special thanks to the cooks and those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes and in particular to Maggie Brady who compared the evening so well. The next event to be organised by the Community Association will be the Community Market on Saturday morning, 5th June. Please come along and support your local producers."
