Hatherleigh Residents Join In Birthday Celebrations
By Neil Price, Co-Editor

December 10, 2009: Hatherleigh Nursing Home celebrated its first birthday this week with a party for staff and residents. The 48-room home, which forms part of the £7m Hatherleigh Care Village development, admitted its first resident exactly 12 months ago on 5th December. Staff at the home marked the event with games, music, and a special lunch for residents and their families, including a super-size birthday cake. Home manager Sue Trott said: “This year has flown by and it’s been a pleasure to work in such a beautiful environment, surrounded by the Devon countryside. “Thanks as always must go to our wonderful chefs and all our visitors from the local community who helped to make the day really special.” Sue invited any local groups wishing to visit the home and help with activites to call her on 01837 810602. This year’s party is particularly significant, as the fifteen luxury ‘close care’ apartments surrounding the home are nearing completion. The new apartments will cater for those wanting independent living whilst benefiting from the safety and support of the care village. PSP Healthcare, the award winning operators of the Village have recently been presented the National Dementia Care Gold Excellence.
