November 14, 2009: 2 hours sleep since Friday morning, so the body clock's a bit upset and the speling may be fof, but here's the first news item from Carnival.

The morning tar barrel pull went off safely and well, although most pullers reported they were harder to pull this year (picture being uploaded here). Was it the wind ... or was it the beer?

Today we've been recording the town crier's competition (there were 22 criers attending), the hunt, the afternoon procession and the walking guys' fancy dress competition.

Finally, a giant 'gotcha' statue appeared in The Square overnight. Here's Mayor Malcolm Jacobs (pictured) admiring it. He spoke to us about the possibility of installing it in Island Park. We couldn't comment on that at the moment.
