Carnival looms
By Geoff Hodgkinson, Co-Editor

November 10, 2009: Barrels are tarred, torches have been made and dipped, and most floats are nearing completion - though we hear there are some frantic efforts going on with certain projects! Don't forget that if you are planning to visit for the first time that road closures will be in force from Friday evening. Please take care, park sensibly, watch for any special signs and follow instructions from stewards. Carnival Day starts at 5am promptly with the first flaming Tar Barrel run. Not to be missed. Things then heat up again at around 10am with the Hunt meet, and then 24 Town Criers are taking part in a competition in the Square led by our own inimitable Ros Chard who's been winning prizes recently for her cries. Bring ear plugs! The afternoon procession starts around 2pm and the evening procession at 7pm.
