The Phoenix starts to arise!
By Geoff Hodgkinson, Co-Editor

November 10, 2009: As Carnival looms this weekend, work has started on rebuilding the George. It's almost 12 months to the day that the George re-opened after a long period of uncertainty over its tenants so we guess this is an appropriate moment for the re-birth. At the moment only groundworks are happening so there's nothing really to show, but just for the record here's the scene this morning. 40 weeks is mentioned as the time it will take to complete the work, so a re-opening could happen sometime next September. Just in time for Carnival 2010! Meantime we have to start thinking about photography of this year's event. With our favourite George window gone we'll have to find another vantage point. Expect some different viewpoints this year.
