... as good, if not better than ...
By Geoff Hodgkinson, Co-Editor

September 28, 2009: As compliments go this one, from Michael and Cathy Anderson regarding the ToB start on the 18th, takes some beating. Michael wrote: ":Good morning, I am writing to congratulate everybody associated with Hatherleigh for the amazing show that you put on last Friday for the Tour of Britain. For the last 21 years my wife and I have followed the Tour de France for two weeks every year in various regions of France and have seen many Departs (sorry no acute accent!) but, in our opinion, the show put on by Hatherleigh was as good, if not better, than anything we have seen. Everybody seemed to be involved, enjoying themselves and obviously very proud of your town and area. Iím sure that an awful lot of work was put in by many people. We drove over from the New Forest where we live to watch the Thursday stage on Exmoor, stayed locally in a farm B&B, saw the Depart from Hatherleigh and then made it to the finish at Yeovil in time to see a British stage winner. It doesnít get much better for cycling fans! We had a fantastic couple of days and will be back in the SW again in 2010 for next yearís TOB. Thank you so very much for all your efforts. Very best wishes. Mike and Cathy Anderson". 'Thank you' Michael and Cathy, on behalf of everyone involved.
