A Spoke in the Works
By Geoff Hodgkinson, Co-Editor

August 5, 2009: Hatherleigh Town Council has created a special newsletter to promote the forthcoming Tour of Britain event in September 18th. Called 'The Spoke' it's a four pager that was distributed with the Parish Pump last week to around 1300 addresses in Hatherleigh, Meeth, Monkokehampton, Exbourne and Jacobstowe. It's packed with information about what's planned for the morning - including details of road closures, bus timetable changes and more - but it's main aim is to tell everybody what we, the Town, are doing to take advantage of this unique opportunity to put Hatherleigh on the map. The event will begin to happen at around 5am and the actual start will be at 10.15am. In between times there will be a variety of entertainment, including a mini-carnival procession. The Tar Barrels will have their own spot and trials biker Andrei Burton will join in the fun. Details of a unique carnival float tableau designed to tell the world how great Hatherleigh is, are also included. If you've not received 'The Spoke' you can download a copy here. Or click the pic.
