Bishop visits
By Geoff Hodgkinson, Co-Editor

June 6, 2009: As part of the 1100 year Anniversary of Okehampton Deanery the Bishop of Plymouth visited Exbourne and Hatherleigh on Sat 6th June. Exbourne Community Market held a Big Breakfast in the Village Hall where the Bishop spoke about the value and importance of 'Community'. Later in Hatherleigh the Bishop attended a 'Heaven in Devon' Birthday Party at the Community Centre, featuring lunch, refreshments, juggling (watch and learn), storytelling, crafts, facepainting, games. There was tea at 5pm in Old Schools followed by a meeting at 6pm in the Church to meet David Gunn-Johnson (the Archdeacon of Barnstaple), the Bishop of Plymouth, Rev. David Muir, the Deanery Pioneer Minister), Jonathan Meyrick, the Dean of Exeter Cathedral. Our picture shows the Bishop speaking in Exbourne Village Hall.
