Plans for the George
By Geoff Hodgkinson, Co-Editor

May 28, 2009: Plans for the rebuilding of the George have been submitted to the local authorities by the company entrusted with the project - Design Management Partnership based in Cardiff. They've done rebuilds of this sort before and seem to have a good pedigree (check out the Blue Ball) and we've had some friendly emails with them and Scottish and Newcastle in recent weeks while waiting for the plans to be published. A public exhibition including 'mood boards' showing what is intended will be put on in the Community Centre shortly, so you'll be able to get a better idea of the details then. We thought it would good to have the floor plans online here too and innocuously asked - in this new world of government transparency - if we could be sent some pdfs. We have provided around 100 personal photos of the interior of the old George which Design Management Partnership itself said had been invaluable in the redesign so we have an interest in what's happening, as do most of you. A less than positive response came yesterday so we are trying again. ;-(
