The band goes to Panto!
By Neil Price, Co-Editor

January 8, 2008: A 40 strong party of young talented trainee musicians from Hatherleigh Silver Band set off for Plymouth's Theatre Royal for the excellent production of Peter Pan on Saturday 5th January. The youngsters elected to have a team building day together at the Panto. As predicted, many parents and friends came along pretending to be adult helpers, though in truth this was just an excuse to see the panto as well!
Paul Nicholas was a great Captain Hook though local lad Matt Slack was the audience favourite as Smee, he was one smart fellow!! The youngsters from the training band enjoyed the performance despite the embarrassment by having to watch their parents shouting "It's behind you" at the tops of their voices!
The youngsters can now look forward to a trip to the cinema in the half term holiday. In the meantime its back to some serious music making as the senior band prepare for the West of England area contest in March.
Pictures of this and many other band events can be found on the band's website www.hatherleighsilverband.co.uk , Anyone wishing to join the training or senior bands can find all the details here!
