Fagin Gets Her Way
By Neil Price, Co-Editor

January 8, 2006: Lionel Bart would have been proud of the singing in the Methodist Church last night, as Ruth Biggs’ pupils sang songs from his popular musical “Oliver!” and Mary Poppins. The story was held together by short narrations from members of the cast. Fagin’s voice sent shivers down the spine, although not in fear as she asked he audience to “Consider themselves”. The sweeps in “Chim Chimney” paraded around the stage brandishing brushes that looked as though they were still full of soot. Nancy’s voice brought the audience to a stunned silence. At the end of the performance a voluntary “pick a pocket or two” took place, which raised a reasonable sum towards the hire of the halls. Congratulations to all concerned.
