Barrels World Tour
By Geoff Hodgkinson, Co-Editor

September 14, 2007: Hatherleigh Tar Barrels Committee embark on their first world tour tomorrow Saturday to raise funds. A single set of Barrels has been made early this year specially for the occasion. The tour starts in Moorview at 10.30am, pausing in The Square at about 11am for refreshments before setting out on the long haul to Iddesleigh via the Moor. On arrival, the Duke of York plays host and has promised all kinds of good food for the pullers. After a suitable break, the Barrels return to Hatherleigh where a BBQ and Karaoke session is being organised at the Tally Ho and all are welcome. Why not turn out and give the lads a cheer as they carry the flag for the Town (OK, pull the barrels) half way across Devon (OK, for 3 miles)? Money raised through sponsorship will be used to buy more barrels for future years. Barrels cost up to 30 a time, and with six needed per year it's not cheap! Give generously. Our picture shows the Committee members who help build the sledge.
