French dance in The Square
By Geoff Hodgkinson, Co-Editor

July 16, 2007: Poissons Rouge, a French music and dance band, performed in The Square yesterday. At least, three of them did. But what a nice little event it was. A modest crowd, which swelled towards the end of the afternoon session in the marquee, was delighted with the music and even more delighted when well known local faces got up and, with some help from the band, danced those hypnotic French dances. Hatherleigh's new vicar, Revd. Ruth Hansford, was on hand to make the prize draw at 3.30pm. On Monday evening, the Bishop of Exeter will licence her as Priest in charge of Hatherleigh, Meeth, Exbourne and Jacobstowe at the Church of St. John the Baptist. Welcome to Hatherleigh, Ruth.
