Exbourne Playground opened
By Geoff Hodgkinson, Co-Editor

April 29, 2007: A bright sunny Saturday morning in Exbourne saw villagers assemble on the playing fields to enjoy the formal opening of the new Play Area. The opening ceremony was performed by Darren Chapman, principal of Okehampton College (pictured), who gave a brief but highly relevant speech about the importance of 'play' in the lives of children. Village children bounced, swung and kicked balls to much excitement while coffees, teas and cold drinks were served. A raffle raised more funds for the children's benefit. Funding for the project came mainly from the Devon County Foundation, with support from other sources including our own Parish Pump, Exbourne Parish Council, Ashbury Hotel and Golf Club and Devon Playing Fields Association.
