A new shop is coming to town, Can you help?
By Neil Price, Co-Editor

February 14, 2007: So what do you want? What is missing? What would spare that trip to Okehampton. A café? 3 Market Street is empty and the owner is looking for ideas. An antiques shop, a shoe shop? Or even a charity shop! Now is your opportunity to put your ideas forward! Let us keep Hatherleigh alive. The more that happens the more will happen! So get your thinking caps on and email me here And please put SHOP in Subject line and explain how your idea would enhance this wonderful town of Hatherleigh. This unique enterprise will be run by an enthusiastic team made up from people who have not been given the opportunity to take responsibility for their own lives due to circumstances beyond their control. The shop will give them the opportunity to become part of the community and they are looking forward to providing a service to all who live and visit. Please bare this in mind when you put forward your suggestions. this project is a project based around West Fishleigh Farm where they are developing a small market garden and workshops. It is unclear what they will grow yet. There are many ideas and we would love some community input or advice. For me, the writer, I am not sure what type of bush a carrot grows on. Also the subject of much discussion around Hatherleigh is the ‘shop project’. This will offer real work opportunities and will be a useful community resource. We are very much looking forward to becoming integrated into the Hatherleigh community and will value your support without our community projects. If you feel you have any advice, skills or can volunteer some of your time and want to find out more, give us a call on 01837 810433 and talk to either Valerie or Michael.
