Digital Picture Show of Carnival 2006
By Geoff Hodgkinson, Co-Editor

February 1, 2007: Re-live the excitement of last year's Carnival at the Digital Picture Show taking place on Saturday Feb 10th in The George Hotel, starting at 7.30pm. Featuring over 200 photos from the 2006 Carnival (and many behind the scenes shots too) it will include for the first time highlights from videos made by Dennis Bater, Mark Quick and Adrian Drew.

The pictures and films will be projected as a full screen presentation in the rear dining room of The George. Tar Barrels and other Carnival 2006 memorabilia will be on display. Geoff Hodgkinson will MC the show. Every part of Carnival will be covered, including the Friday night pull, the brief annual appearance of the Hatherleigh Jazz band and assorted ‘personalities’ in fancy dress and their frolics. Also included are the two dramatic flaming Tar Barrel pulls on Saturday, the Hunt and the Town Criers’ contest in The Square, the afternoon Procession and Fancy Dress, and the Evening Procession with its flaming torches. ‘Behind the scenes’ shots include floats, barrels and torches being made.

This is a family event with lots of fun and banter. Everyone is invited. The Show lasts about 2 hours. Children are welcome and there will be a ‘special happening’ for them during the interval.”

We’d also be pleased to include other pictures too. Anyone with interesting pictures of the Carnival can submit them here for consideration or email to discuss the possibilities.

Prints of the pictures and copy videos from the show can be ordered on the night, with all profits going to Carnival funds.
