May 18, 2015:
A Garden Studio of Gorgeous Colours
Local artist Celia Olsson is once again opening her studio for North Devon Art Trek 23rd May to 7th June.
Celia has been taking part in Open Studio events for a number of years and visitors, both local and from as far afield as London, Cumbria, France, Germany, Russia and Israel have enjoyed ‘Inspirational, gorgeous colours and freedom in a lovely setting’, ‘An uplifting half hour’, ‘Fantastic, really made me want to go home and paint’.
Visitors are welcome to look at the colourful, loose-style watercolour landscapes and Celia will be happy to talk about works in progress. Much of her work is inspired by the countryside she lives in and this year, along with her watercolours, you will be able to see works from two new projects: a series of books as art illustrating the history and inhabitants of a family home, and a hymn to the glory of creation.
There will be two demonstrations on how Celia achieves her loose style, vivid colours and textures in watercolour on Saturday 30th May and Saturday 6th June from 2.30pm to 4pm. They are free to attend but booking is essential as space is limited.
Celia is also running an art day at Castle Drogo on 4th June ‘Sketching and beyond’ starting at 10.30am. Weather permitting, participants will be able to sketch in the grounds before working on a larger painting. The price is £35 for the day and includes coffee and lunch. Booking is essential through Kate Horlick at Castle Drogo, email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Celia’s studio will be open from 10.30am to 4.30pm on 23rd to 30th May and 5th to 7th June inclusive.
