March 11, 2015:
Fancy counting plant life in an area near you? Then perhaps the above project is of interest? A group of charitable organisations are running a project to record plant life in a collection of 1km squares countrywide. Volunteers are sought to undertake counting and recording in a square local to them twice a year. The project aims to explore how plants in different habitats are responding to changes in the environment. A fuller explanation is HERE.
So that you don't have to, we underwent the task of logging in to www.npms.org.uk to find out what was involved, in particular what squares are available within a 30 mile radius. There are around 20 in Devon and the majority are still up for grabs including one near to Hatherleigh, so if you're interested in joining this project we recommend you respond immediately. Volunteers may be individuals or small groups so it might suit a school for example. Click the image above to log in or go to www.nmps.org.uk.
