July's Ruby Market
By Neil Price, Co-Editor

July 23, 2013: After early morning mist the sun blazed down on the diversity of stalls & attractions and in spite of it being definite beach weather visitors turned out in their hundreds. BBC Radio Devon's Michael Chequer & Kirk England interviewed many of the Stallholders and Pump's very own Neil Price live on air putting Hatherleigh in the limelight for the 3 hour duration of the programme. The Bell ringers from St John the Baptist Church manned a recruitment drive and various charities including Devon Air Ambulance and the South West Kayak Charity Challenge reported they'd received excellent support. Thank You to the Local Musician's who gave up their time to play at the market creating the lovely atmosphere, Alan Beaman for his video & Ann Courtney for her images. The next market which is the Festive one and proved very popular for present buying last year is on Saturday 7th December from 9am-2pm, raffle tickets will be on sale nearer the time for a Fabulous Food Hall Hamper and other items with the prizes being donated largely by Stallholders in aid of The Devon Air Ambulance. The dates for 2014 Ruby Country Markets are Saturday April 19th (Easter) 9am-2pm, Saturday July 19th 9am-2pm and Saturday December 6th 9am-2pm Video courtesy of Alan Beaman
