The Flood

December 24, 2012:

After a wet summer, the heavens opened up again yesterday. The floods around Hele Bridge where the Torridge burst its banks left the surrounding fields under three to four feet of water.  While the Lew was in danger of breaching the Bridge in Hatherleigh.  The road to Dolton was impassable as the Torridge again flooded across the road. It was only a month ago on the 21st November, see pictures, that the Lew was at similar levels. Other pictures by Dennis Bater here
