Care Quality Commission give thumbs up to Local Care Home
By Neil Price, Co-Editor

November 16, 2012: A leading care home in Hatherleigh has been praised for the quality of their services by the regulatory Care Quality Commission. Staff at the award winning £7m Hatherleigh Care Village, which provides purpose built nursing accommodation as well as independent living for elderly residents, have been noted as being observant and reassuring. They reported: “We saw how staff were observant to people's changing moods and responded appropriately, such as providing reassurance when a person was distressed. “Throughout the inspection, we observed that staff communicated appropriately with most people, and we saw the relationships between staff and people in the home were good.” In addition the Care Qualifying Commission (CQC) reported that the residents at Hatherleigh Care Village said that their care and welfare needs were being well met. Comments included in the report included: “my health has definitely improved”; “staff are competent and know how to provide care”; “staff are really kind and there is a friendly atmosphere” and “I feel safe here.” One relative told the inspector that they thought it was really wonderful and they felt really involved in the care that was given. Lesley Cole, Hatherleigh Care Village manager, told us: “I am very pleased with the CQC’s report and am glad residents and their families are happy with the service they get here. I am very proud of our staff team team who work tirelessly to look after those in our care” “Our aim as a company is to treat all residents as individuals. We encourage a broad range of activities and welcome the involvement of relatives. We are very fortunate at Hatherleigh Care Village to have the support of the local community and a great GP, Dr Al Doori, who has a weekly clinic at the home” “I look forward to further developing our service so that we can continue to provide the very best for the elderly in the area.” The Hatherleigh Care Village has developed a reputation for providing high quality care for some of the most vulnerable adults in the community.
