Hatherleigh Festival is coming soon!
By Neil Price, Co-Editor

July 21, 2012: Hatherleigh Festival is on the Horizon
Thursday 26th to Sunday 29th July
As the weather stopped the children at Hatherleigh Primary School from tending their flowers outside they decided to make some in the dry of the classroom. The picture shows the results with Kaz (Karen Hawkins) and some of the talented children with their results.
In preparation for this year’s Festival children have been taking part, during the final week of term, in workshops lead by Karen Hawkins of Oceanic Arts to produce large and flamboyant flowers!
These will be carried by the children in in the grand Festival Opening Parade following Hatherleigh’s award winning silver band from the Community Centre to the Town Square
where a lot of the action takes place.
Children will have another opportunity to make flowers with Karen at her workshop in the Community Centre from 3pm to 5pm on Thursday 26th July and join the parade at 7pm.
Young families won’t want to miss the Multisports with OCRA on Friday and may also be interested in the T-Shirt Printing workshop in the Community Centre and helping to create a wall hanging with local artist Isabella Whitworth in Old Schools on Saturday.
Continuing the flower theme, there will be outdoor theatre and cream teas in the grounds of the Community Centre on Sunday afternoon: a performance of Alan Ayckbourn’s comedy ‘Round and Round the Garden’. The children’s flamboyant flowers will be used again to decorate the set.
Information about all the many Festival events can be found in the leaflet that was delivered with your Parish Pump or by looking at the web site: www.hatherleighfestival.co.uk . Tickets can be obtained from The Pottery Box Office, telephone 01837 810624 and from the Paper Shop. We hope that you will all enjoy yourselves!
