Late night Shopping on the Streets of Hatherleieigh

The Streets of Hatherleigh Light up for Christmas

Ron Bendle, the hero of the Village, did not need a soap box to get his message across before lighting up the town. “Keep money Local!” “Encourage the local business”. “Spend here not in Plymouth or Exeter.” A large percentage of the town turned out on Monday night, the rain only put in a brief appearance which encouraged people to retreat into the Craft Fair put on in the George Hotel by the Hatherleigh Citizen of the year Bev Wrenn had a high standard of goods for sale, both unusual and practical as well as our local cheese producers from Curworthy. Before Ron took to the stage the Silverband, in mufti, entertained the gathered families, while Santa enticed them into Old Schools for that first Christmas Present! Organised by Hatherleigh Children's Centre . Even the Town Crier was there in all her finery although she had forgotten her hat, hope you have found it now, Ros.
