Flower Festival 2010 - February 9 
There will be a meeting on Tuesday 9th February at 2.00 pm in Old schools. On the Agenda will be the theme for this year’s festival, among other important items. We welcome anyone who wants to join us, you don't have to be an expert, none of us are. If you would like to try your hand at flower arranging do come along, you may be surprised at what you can achieve.

Coffee Morning - February 13 
Valentines Dance Is there any romance in your soul?? For your loved ones there will be a Valentines dance on Saturday 13th February at The Community Centre. Live music, two course meal free glass of fizz on arrival. Watch out in the Pump for more details closer to the time. Thank you one and all for all your support.

Lent Lunches - February 16 
Lent Lunches Tuesday, 16th February & Tuesday, 16th March, 12.15 - 2pm Hatherleigh Old Schools. £3.50 for hot soup, cheese & fruit: just the thing for early spring days! In fact, 16th February is Shrove Tuesday, so not quite Lent, but maybe the chance of a pancake as well as soup. The charity we shall be supporting is Shelterbox.

Meeth Guild - February 16 
Meeth Guild Last month’s meeting was held on 19th January, Paul Rendell came along and gave us a talk and a slide show relating to Dartmoor. He does a wide variety of topics on Dartmoor, we chose on this occasion ‘Towns and Villages of Dartmoor’ and as it was an interesting evening we will probably invite him to come along again. Our next Guild meeting on 16th February will be with Jeneca Beads and we will be having a go at making jewellery. Wishing you all a Happy New Year. Rose Goldwater.

Hatherleigh Gardening Club - February 18 
Hatherleigh Gardening Club Happy New Year to one and all! We start this new season with, of course, the AGM which will be held on Thursday, 18th February at 7.30pm Old Schools. Members past, present and future are all most welcome and if you have any plants/seeds/books to swap/sell for club funds (very small donations usually) do bring them along. Edwardian Music Hall - February 20 
The Players tread the boards Rehearsals for this year's pantomime" Ali Baba" were "snowed off" and this has left Hatherleigh Players with a dilemma. The show must go on.... but not the pantomime, which will be offered next year. Instead, Hatherleigh Players are offering for your delight and delectation ,a rousing evening of song and snippets in the form of an Edwardian Music Hall. The performance is on Saturday 20th February, starting at 7.30pm.

Exbourne Parish Council Meeting - February 24 
Exbourne with Jacobstowe Parish Council Exbourne with Jacobstowe Parish Council will meet in the village hall on Wednesday 24 February at 8pm. All parishioners very welcome to attend.

Rapid UK talk - March 3 in Methodist Hall
Rapid UK responds to calls for help from governments in deep trouble after a massive disaster like the one just seen in Haiti. Rapid UK teams go to the disaster area to help locate and extract survivors. They also help train local teams to do the same job, thereby spreading their skills worldwide. Find out more here including what they've been doing in Haiti.

Founder Graham Payne will give a talk and show some slides on Wednesday 3rd March in the Methodist Church for the Lady's British Legion. All are welcome.

Editorial Note: Graham gave his slide presentation at a recent WI Exbourne meeting, and it truly makes the eyes water to see what they have done. Support them!

Heathen Harvest - March 12 
Common Players are coming to Hatherleigh Community Centre with their special blend of high energy clowning, comedy, storytelling and song "Heathen Harvest" to be performed on Friday 12th March at 7.30pm, Tickets £5 Adults, £2 child. Ploughman's Supper available. Come along and celebrate the Glorious Apple!

Hatherleigh Sportsfield - March 15 
Hatherleigh Sportsfield We will be holding the AGM on Monday 15th March in The Old Schools at 7.30pm. We would welcome new members to help look after a much improved facility. Trish Wonnacott (Secretary)

Murder Mystery. - April 10 
Someone will be murdered in Hatherleigh Community Centre on Saturday 10th April at 7.30pm. A scrumptious Dinner will be served while the mystery is solved.

Tar Barrel Meeting - May 5 
The Tar Barrel Committee held their final meeting on Wednesday 2nd December 2009 at The Cricket Club. The committee agreed that both barrel runs went smoothly, despite the sodden pull up on the Friday night. The pullers would like to say “well done and thank you” to all the children who braved the elements and helped get both sets of barrels up to Oakfield Road. You have real Carnival spirit. The Committee have decided to donate monies raised to Hatherleigh Fire Bridage and to the chosen Charity of The Half Moon at Sheepwash. The first Tar Barrel meeting is on Wednesday 5th May 2010, 8.30pm at Hatherleigh Cricket Club. New members are welcome to come along. Kay Stevens – Hatherleigh Carnival Press Secretary
