2009. flecto disc roundabout & climbing aparatus 20th July 2009 – Double Zipwire installation date. 02nd May 2009 Hatherleigh's very first Swishing Party raises £150 with the Retro Disco March/April 2009 – The group swing and double swing are installed by local volunteers.
Easter 2009 Giant Easter Egg(donated by Waitrose) raffle raises £80 28 th March 2009 Jumble Sale raises £100 Jan 1 st 2009 Once again Hatherleigh Walruses jump into the River Lew to raise money. This time the theme is Dr Who and the pledge is £1000.
Dec 2008 Retro Disco, Christmas lights stall and the Grand New Years Eve Party raised £1000.
Nov2008 Jumble Sale raises £100 October 2008 The first two pieces of equipment arrive – the group swing and double swing. The drainage problem of the park is surveyed by Michael Thorn Construction.
Nov 15 th 2008 – Groundwork is carried out by Ken Bedford of Michael Thorne Construction plus volunteers from the community in order to address the drainage in the park. September 2008 Hatherleigh children let off the ballons in ' The great ballon race race'. The winner was found in the midlands! Total raised is £563.
July 2008 As no overall winning design emerged, but certain equipment from various suppliers came out on top, the committee decide to buy the kit seperately. The first batch of equipment is ordered from the winning design. A new estimate of £50-£60,000 is recorded. June 7 th 2008 – The committee have a fun day in the park to raise money and display the 4 proposed park designs. The day raises £1165!
March/April 2008 Four different park design companies visit the park to design and cost a play park (no budget was given) using equipment chosen by the residents of Hatherleigh in the questionnaire. These were a zip wire, climbing structure, roundabout and swings. Feb 6 th 2008 Gary Bush & Andrew Entwhistle from the Town Council form a committee made up from enthusiastic and committed parents in order to move the project further. There are 7 people on the committee; The two Town Councillors and Chairman: Nick Laing-Taylor, Secretary: Janine Hartnett, Treasurer: Caroline Munn, plus Katrina Embling and Clare Tyson. January 1 st 2008 Hatherleigh Walruses plunge into the icy River Lew to raise money for local causes. This year the theme is Nov/Dec 07 No land is forthcoming, so the Council were asked if Island Park could be used. Three basic layouts were sought with quotes & initial estimates are £16-£18000 for the park. Possible layouts go on display in the Community Centre and Old Schools . Local residents are encouraged to fill forms in with their preferences and comments on location.The Council appeals for volunteers to form a committee to raise funs and manage the build. Oct 07 Town Council appeals via The Parish Pump for land to site a play area in the town.
