Hatherleigh Town v Cullompton
Hatherleigh 1 v 1 Cullompton
A missed penalty by Millington on 13 minutes summed up Hatherleigh's day but all credit to 10 man Cullompton who came back to draw in injury time.
Hatherleigh went into this 6 pointer with a strong line-up, Davies back and 3 subs Rice, Cleave and Chapman. For the second week running Millington got booked but he did make amends with an excellent header on 43 minutes from a fine cross by Bedford. A good first half from Hatherleigh, who should have gone in at half time with more goals. Again, Toop saved well just before half time to keep Hatherleigh their one goal lead.
HT: Hatherleigh 1 Cullompton 0
The second half on this bitterly cold day saw a good shot by Davies on 48 minutes which just went over the cross bar. A Reynolds clearance kept Hatherleigh in the game. Hatherleigh should have gone 2 nil up from a through ball by Moore to Dymond whose shot was well saved on 62 minutes.
A Cullompton player was sent off after a late challenge with the free kick coming to nothing. Toop saved well on 85 minutes with 10 man Cullompton pushing forward for the equaliser and Hatherleigh playing defensively rather than attacking.
Unfortunately, on 92 minutes Cullompton's Bedford hit a fine shot into the top corner of the Hatherleigh net to draw 1 1.
Hatherleigh are now bottom of the league and must get a result at St Martins next week. (However, I have heard that Buckland Athletic are likely to leave the League at the end of the season.)
Hatherleigh's team: - Toop, Moore, Reymolds, Woollacott, Gilllespie, Davies, Endacott, Millington, Dymond, Bedford, James. Subs: - Rice, Cleave for Bedford, Chapman
