Hatherleigh Town v St Martins
Feb 4th 2006

The result of this Cup match hardly mattered except that it showed Hatherleigh has regained its lust for goals. The 3-2 scoreline was well built by Town in the second half, with 'Bryant' scoring two and James one. A beautifully aimed lob from the edge of the area beat their goalie and touched the underside of the bar as it went in, bouncing well over the line and then coming back up to hit the bar and bounce back onto the line. The ref, rightly, had no hesitation in awarding Town's third goal. Hatherleigh, down to 10 men towards the end after a sending off, controlled the game despite coming under heavy pressure. Earlier Toop could only sit and watch as the ball went over his line after a goalmouth melee. Another good goal was scored against him earlier.

We only caught the second half, but we managed to capture two of town's three goals. There are more wide screen shots than normal because, well, they look good.

Town's first goal we think ...

... or was this it?

Town's third goal, with 'Bryant' (hidden) already turning in victory as the ball floats over the goalkeeper's head.

Millie shows off his Charleston steps

Well done!

Now what's going on here? We thought the wall was there to stop the ball.

Fortunately, the ball goes loose

A great action shot, so it deserves to be bigger!

With Toop stranded, Renny clears off the line.

And finally ... our supporters of the week!
