Soccer Pinhoe v Hatherleigh Town By our Match Reporter : Pinhoe (1)2 Vs (1)1 Hatherleigh For the second week Hatherleigh travelled away to the sound of trains, this time the Waterloo line. Again, we got a workmanlike performance from Town on a pitch which came unplayable in the second half, Dean Rice having to be carried off injured because of the appalling conditions. Hatherleigh started well and took the game to Pinhoe and could have easily been three up. Unfortunately, their only goal came from a deflection, which should be credited to Simon James. Then, with everyone ready for their half time cup of tea, Pinhoe score on 47 minutes ... against the run of play! Pinhoe 1 Vs Hatherleigh 1 The second half became a farce on a pitch where the lines were nothing but mud and the players had a job to stand up. Hatherleigh again were the best team and goalkeeper Toop didn't have a lot to do. However, an injustice took place with Pinhoe scoring on 92 minutes. Not the best result for Town - who deserved to win - but GOALS win games. Whether the game should have been played is another matter. Town were definitely robbed. Team: Toop, Wonnacott, Bruce, Moore, Reynolds, Bedford, Davies, Dymond,
Rice, James, Millington (Sorry, no pix.) Hatherleigh Town AFC is sponsored by |
