Hatherleigh Town v Exmouth Town
By Match Reporter :
Exmouth(0)3 Vs Hatherleigh (1) 1
Hatherleigh travelled to Southern Road, Exmouth to take on troubled Exmouth, who have seen better days especially off the field.
It was a frustrating day for Town's manager John Hayman who went with a depleted squad and only one sub - Will Chapman.
It was a game of two halves with Town taking the first and the home team taking the second. Hatherleigh should had taken their chances in the half but the only one was a fine header from James on 14 minutes which made Hatherleigh's travelling supporters happy. Town's approach work is good but finishing leaves a lot to be desired. A bright spot of the half was the good work rate of the two youngsters Davis and Wonnacott who defended with great strength and vigor.
Half time Exmouth 0 - 1 Hatherleigh
The second half was Exmouth's who took the game to Town, with their midfield dominating things. On 62 minutes a good save from Toop kept Town in the game but it was a different story after that with goals on 65, 78 and 83 minutes.
Hatherleigh pushed for a goal in the last 10 minutes but to no avail. Some poor referring decisions didn't help.
Secretary Bert Heaman informed us that Hatherleigh are out of the Senior Cup following last week's victory over St Martins, due to Town playing an ineglible player!
Team: Toop, Wonnacott, Moore, Reynolds, Davis, Bedford, Endacott, Rice, Dymond, Millington, James. Sub: Chapman
Pinhoe away next week.
(Sorry, no pictures. But we think there's a Torridge Cup match against Holsworthy next Sunday - a real local Derby, especially as Holsworthy play in the Devon League. Our camera can't miss that, even if our greenhouse is not finished! See you there?)
