Hatherleigh Town v Pinhoe
December 17th 2005

NEW CUB REPORTER PETER COOPER Match reporter Peter Cooper wrote:

"On a cold December Saturday afternoon 11th placed Hatherleigh Town entertained 14th placed Pinhoe at Okehampton Road. Was The mighty town going to get back to winning ways and get an early Christmas present? You'll have to read on to find out!

"The game was a stalemate until the 20th minute when Rice scored a 25 yard screamer. Hatherleigh Town 1-0 Pinhoe. In the 24th minute Millington had a brilliant free kick from just outside the box, which hit the crossbar and Reynolds hit it into the top left hand corner but sadly was offside! Half-time Hatherleigh Town 1-0 Pinhoe.

"The two teams went in at the break with Hatherleigh having most of the play in the first 45 minutes. In the 57th minute Cooper had a good run down the right wing then had a good shot across the goal which went wide of the post.

"GOAL! Hatherleigh Town 1-1 Pinhoe. The goal came in the 63rd minute with Pinhoe's number 9 having a good shot which Toop saved off his legs but the ball went up into the air and hit the inside of the post and then went in! In the 73rd minute Pinhoe's number 9 had a good shot but Toop pulled off a good save. In the 80th minute Woollacott had a good shot in the left bottom corner but the keeper saved it.

"GOAL! Hatherleigh Town 1-2 Pinhoe. The goal came in the 81st minute when Toop, who had the ball in his hands and, just as he was getting up (still holding the ball), a Pinhoe player kicked it out of his hands - which led to a simple tap in for Pinhoe! Should it have been a goal? Well - not if the ref knew the laws of football!

"In the 85th minute Woollacott had a good shot from just outside the box but hit it wide. In the 90th minute Reynolds headed down to Dymond, who had a good shot but hit it over the crossbar. Full-time Hatherleigh Town 1-2 Pinhoe.

"All in all it was a good game with both teams having good attempts, though the referee made some debatable decisons against Hatherleigh. Well, we didn't get an early Christmas present but maybe we'll get a late one away to Thorverton on the 27th.

"Hatherleigh's starting line up: Toop, Cooper, Bruce, Wonnacott, Moore, Dymond, Bedford, James, Reynolds, Millington, Rice."

First, a great sequence of Millie bending it!

And this is one of me on the beach last week

Gary stopped this with his legs, but the ball jumped up and ... oh dear!

The ball's somewhere in the middle

Ah, there it is, and it's going the right way ... but it was cut off easily by the goalie

So, let's try, try ...

... and try again
