Hatherleigh Town v University
December 10th 2005

NEW CUB REPORTER PETER COOPERPeter Cooper, our new cub reporter (pictured left), sent in this for his debut contribution:

DEAN RICE MADE HIS DEBUT"On a lovely sunny Saturday afternoon the mighty Hatherleigh Town, who are 10th in the Devon and Exeter league, entertained 7th place Exeter University. In the 23rd minute Exeter's number 10 had a good shot but Toop pulled off a good save. In the 30th minute Dymond had a good cross in from the right wing into the centre of the box with Hatherleigh's new signing Dean Rice (right) having a good header, but just wide of the post.

GOAL! Hatherleigh 0-1 Exeter University. It was in the 42nd minute when the first goal was scored. It came from Exeter's 3rd consecutive corner with a Hatherleigh player heading the ball into his own net! Then, in the 45th minute, Exeter had another good attempt from their number 15 but Toop pulled off a spectacular save. Half time - Hatherleigh Town 0-1 Exeter University.

In the 50th minute Exeter's number 9, who was looking dangerous all game, took the ball past the Hatherleigh defence and had a good shot but Toop made yet another good save. Town struck back in the 56th minute when Bedford had a shot but Exeter's keeper tipped it over the crossbar for a corner. In the 63rd minute Exeter had another good shot but Toop made a save which bounced off his legs onto an Exeter player, who had another good shot, but Toop made another good save.

GOAL! Hatherleigh 0-2 Exeter University. The goal came in the 73rd minute when Exeter's number 12 croosed the ball into their number 10 who finished it off nicely in the top left hand corner.

Then in the 75th minute Town had a good corner which missed everyone except for the defender who cleared it off the line. In the 80th minute Number 16 for Exeter had a good shot which beat the goalie but not the post. In the 83rd minute Millington had a good attempt on goal but was saved by Exeter's keeper. In the 86th minute Millington had a spectacular shot at goal from just outside the 6 yard box but sadly hit the crossbar. Full time: Hatherleigh 0-2 Exeter University

All in all it was a good entertaining game with both teams having great chances. Lets hope we get back to winning ways next week, when they are home to Pinhoe.

Hatherleigh's star man: Gary Toop. Hatherleigh's line up: Toop, Wonnacott, Pearson, Bryant, Moore, Endacott, Bedford, Jones, Dymond, Millington, Rice. Subs: James, Bruce.

Thanks Peter, well done on your .net debut. We hope our pictures match your high standard.

First, a new team shot, soon to be on display in the Tally Ho

HATHERLEIGH TOWN 1ST FOOTBALL TEAM

Here's Millie's 6yd crash against the bar that flashed past the goalie, bounced down onto the line and then out.
Did it go in? We'll never know.
Keeping their goal under attack (sequence of 3, then 2)

Dean takes on a defender

Millie manages to centre the ball under pressure
Below is a sequence of four
Millie does his best to turn one in
A great header from Dean that only just went past the post
Finally, our Supporters of the Week. .

This is ... well, yawn, is it really ... zzzz - that important .... zzzz?

Fay was apparently very jealous of the Supporter of the Week shot taken a few weeks back and asked specially to attend today in the hope of being photographed.

Why don't you come next time? Perhaps you'll get your picture taken too.
